Data Centre – LV Mains/Generator Auto Transfer System – Mitsubishi Q series, GX Developer
A late night phone call from a data centre which suffered a complete loss of power.
Reason: reliance on a system vulnerable to a single point of failure and a lack of familiarity of the control system.
Task: Retrofit of a dual channel redundancy control system featuring a self-monitoring and real time reporting control system – entirely our design, based on two Mitsubishi MELSEC Q series PLC CPUs working in a Master / Standby configuration tightly coupled together with duplicate CC link master modules. The system depends upon duplication of practically every control component, signal and command signals with self monitoring that alarms key personnel in real time the moment the system departs from 100% availability.
Designed, inhouse tested, panel build, fitted, commissioned controlling the existing switchgear and generator systems with continued support and PLC spares held by Soft Control Ltd.
