Our customer operates two of these 30 metre long steel processing machines. We are contracted to provide 24 hour Support for these machines. Our duties cover the any breakdowns on the PLC and HMI systems, Siemens DC and AC drives, instrumentation and ancillary electrical systems.

Steel Slitting Line

High Application Complexity

Soft Control were contracted to develop all Siemens Software for the multiple operations required for this Steel Slitting Line for Luxembourg. The program was developed to ensure detailed and accurate reporting of any alarm condition. Extensive automatic facilities ranged from automatic material loading and unloading, tool change and tread up of sheet steel. Speed control of the Multiple Drive System included Tension Control, Calculation of rotational speed of constantly varying diameters and automatic ramp down to allow a controlled “tail out”.

A Siemens PLC system was used for the main control task fitted with distributed I/O and a HMI.
